1. The Integration of Printing and Post-Press

2. Flat-Press Techniques Are Gaining Popularity Again
Flat-press die-cutting, flat-press screen printing, and flat-press hot stamping are once again gaining attention in the industry. For label printing, speed is not always the top priority; instead, quality and cost-effectiveness are more critical. While flat-press methods may not match high-speed machines in efficiency or precision, they offer advantages in application effects and overall cost. As a result, they have made a strong comeback in the market. Recently, at major label exhibitions in the U.S. and Europe, companies like Smag and ABG introduced flat-press post-press equipment. KBA’s Varius LX-TX narrow web offset press also features a modular design with a KBA-Kammann flat-screen unit. Domestically, Beijing Ou Lu Xinda has launched a high-speed flat-press die-cutter that combines traditional flat-cutting benefits with continuous feeding and rewinding. Hong Taixiang has also introduced a similar machine for continuous paper handling.
3. The Two-Step Method Remains Dominant
Label production typically follows either a “one-step†or “two-step†approach. The one-step method involves completing all printing and post-press operations in a single pass, but with the growing complexity of label production, it's increasingly difficult to achieve everything in one go. Machines have limitations, and too many processes in a single line can lead to higher waste and lower flexibility. On the other hand, the two-step method separates printing and post-press operations onto different machines, offering greater adaptability. Although this approach may be slower and less efficient, it remains the most practical choice for shorter and medium-sized print runs. It allows for better control over quality and process optimization, making it a reliable option for many businesses.
