Color separation process

The color separation process is used to digitally scan the original and divide the original into red, green, and blue components. Before the development of digital imaging, the traditional method of color separation was to take pictures three times, each time using a corresponding color filter to filter different light. However, after color separation, the desired result is three gray images, which respectively represent the red, green, and blue components of the original.
The next step is to convert each color separation. When generating a negative image of a red component, the generated image represents the blue component of the image. Similarly, negative images of green and blue components are also generated in order to generate magenta and yellow color separations accordingly.
Cyan, magenta, and yellow are subtractive primary colors, because each color represents the two additive primary colors left by subtracting one additive primary color from white light. Cyan, magenta and yellow are the three main pigments in color reproduction. The combination of these three colors in printing can make a reasonable copy of the original, but in reality it is not the case. Due to the limitations of ink pigments, the darker colors produced are relatively dirty and sloppy. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to make a black version to improve the color of the dark part and increase the contrast of the image. There are already a variety of techniques to make this black version from the original image; these techniques include gray component replacement, background color removal, and background color addition.
