Ohaus Quick Tips-Scout Pro Calibration

You want students to get accurate and meaningful results from their laboratory activities, calibrate your Scout® Pro balance, and then make every lesson quick and easy, and ensure accurate measurements.

Calibration is one of the most critical tasks to perform with your OHAUS Tong® Pro before performing. Balanced several times throughout the day, several times throughout the day, and before completion, each class will ensure that your students achieve the most accurate and meaningful results. A better plan is to take into account your lessons incorporated into the balance correction program for your student activities to begin this year. This will not only help them understand the importance of Scout® Pro balance calibration, but will also save you valuable pre-lesson preparation time before each lesson.

The traditional method of electronic balance calibration is to use external calibration weights. Users usually use the "range calibration" method to calibrate, start to put the weight on the weighing pan to obtain the zero point, and then place the weight on the balance to obtain the range point. The Scout® Pro electronic balance calibration is a relatively quick and simple procedure. Turn off the balance first. Press and hold the ON / ZERO button until you see the word MENU appear on the display. Release the ON / ZERO button, and CAL should appear on your display. This is, you will want to press the ON / ZERO button once (do not hold it down), the display should flash-C-, and then flash the weight of the calibration weight, for all Scout® Pro balance models up to 600g Calibration weights are provided free of charge. For example, Scout® Pro SPE401 flashes 200 grams indicating that 200 grams of calibration weight is required to calibrate your balance. When you place the appropriate calibration weight in the weighing pan, simply press and release the ON / ZERO button. The display will flash again-C-then donE. In about 30 seconds, you have properly calibrated the balance.

Some additional instructions need to be remembered. Although the balance is calibrated before shipping, it is strongly recommended that you calibrate the Scout® Pro when it is first removed from its packaging to ensure that it works properly. Transport and temperature changes may affect the balance, which can be easily corrected through the calibration process. In addition, if the balance encounters the error message ERR1 or ERR4 after calibration, please refer to the instructions on linear calibration in the user manual.
