3. Lipstick molding technology

Lipsticks are generally made into rods with a diameter of 12 to 16 mm, so the process of infusion into this form is called forming. The bar stability, surface gloss, feel of use, etc. of the lipstick may vary greatly depending on the molding technology conditions.

1) Prior to the 1990s, mainstream filling methods were manual or semi-automatic filling using metal molds or nylon molds. The disadvantage of this method is that the production efficiency is low, and the injected release aid is likely to cause surface contamination of the lipstick, and the quality of the high-grade is difficult. In addition, in order to facilitate demolding, only products with high hardness can be used, and the sense of use is limited.

2) In the 1990s, the disposable plastic capsule technology was introduced into the molding process. A disposable capsule of ABS material was first inserted into the lipstick container, and the back filling was performed, and the capsule was released after cooling. The advantage is that the surface gloss is very good and the feeling of use is excellent.

3) After entering the 21st century, an automatic filling process of the silicone mold mode emerged. Because of the characteristics of the silicone material, the release between the lipstick paste and the mold is the easiest. The high density of the surface of the silicone mold is beneficial to the bright luster of the surface of the lipstick stick, and can achieve the best use feeling. Suitable for automated production and high production efficiency.

4) Recently, various molding techniques have been developed which are different in appearance. From the above analysis, we can see that our research on lipstick products should be separated from the limitations of pure color expression, and then strive to provide color and care functions. If traditional lipstick products have always been to protect the skin by giving oil film, then the future is expected to be a nutritious, moisturizing, and even therapeutic lip balm product. For example, an emulsion lipstick in which a large amount of water and a moisturizing agent is added; a lip balm which protects a sensitive lip by absorbing and reflecting ultraviolet rays; a lipstick which adds a medicine which promotes blood circulation of the mucous layer, and the like. The color, image, sense of use and high-tech lipstick will set off a new era of integrated lipstick.
