In the Shangyu District, a recent incident involving an optical shop has sparked a consumer dispute. Ms. Qian, who had previously purchased glasses from an optical store in the area, recently visited another shop on the pedestrian street to update her eyewear. After selecting a new frame and negotiating the price down to 340 yuan, she had the lenses cleaned and the frames fitted. However, shortly after wearing the new glasses, she noticed a significant color difference in the lenses, which affected her appearance.
Ms. Qian immediately raised concerns with the shop, believing that the staff had made an error during the cleaning process. She requested compensation, but the shop manager, Mr. Kong, denied any responsibility. According to Mr. Kong, the color difference was not noticeable before because of the previous frame's design. Now, with the new frame, the discoloration became more apparent. He also claimed that the lenses were not sourced from their store, so they were not responsible for the issue.
The disagreement led Ms. Qian to file a complaint with the local market supervision department. After an investigation, the authorities concluded that there was no solid evidence to support her claim against the current shop. They advised her to contact the original provider of the lenses instead. Despite this, Ms. Qian still wanted to remove the newly fitted frame due to the lens color issue.
With the help of the market supervision team, the optical shop finally agreed to remove the frame. Ms. Qian expressed relief that the issue was resolved, though she admitted it was an unpleasant experience. She now plans to address the lens problem directly with the original supplier.
This incident highlights the importance of clear communication between consumers and service providers, especially when it comes to delicate items like eyeglasses. It also serves as a reminder that proper documentation and transparency can prevent such disputes from arising in the first place.
