There are two national standards for effective salt spray testing:
The first one, GB/T1771-1991 "Determination of neutral salt spray performance of paints and varnishes", equivalent to the international standard ISO7253-1984, replaced GB1771-79. This standard specifies the method for determining the neutral salt spray resistance of a coating and can be used as a means of detecting the quality of the paint.
The second item, GB/T10125-1997 "man-made atmosphere corrosion test salt spray test", equivalent to the international standard ISO9227-1990, instead of GB6458-89, GB6459-86, GB6460-86, GB10125-88. This standard specifies equipment, reagents, and methods used in neutral salt spray (NSS), acetate spray (AASS), and copper accelerated acetate spray (CASS) tests. It also specifies methods for assessing the environmental corrosivity of the test chamber. This standard is used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metal materials and coatings. The neutral salt spray test is applicable to metals and their alloys, metal coatings, organic coatings, anodized films and conversion coatings. The acetate mist and copper accelerated acetate spray test is suitable for copper-nickel-chromium or nickel-chromium decorative coatings, as well as for anodized aluminum films.
