According to the Pakistani "Business Report" on September 30, the European Union recently decided to impose import tariffs on plastic raw materials (polyethylene terephthalate) originating in Iran, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates on the ground of providing export subsidies. The tax rate is 139.7 euros per ton, 44.02 euros and 42.34 euros respectively, valid until 2015.
Reported that the EU imports of these raw materials are mainly used for the production of plastic bottles and packaging products. Last year, the EU consumed a total of 100 billion plastic bottles, accounting for about one-fifth of the world's total, and the plastic raw material market was as large as 3 billion euros.
The EU originally intended to levy anti-dumping duties on the products of the above countries, but later discovered that the new tariffs were replaced by insufficient evidence.
