Button Bag Advent Calendar Craft Kit

Last year, we received a delightful Advent Calendar craft kit from Buttonbag. At that time, Molly was nine years old, and it became a wonderful evening project for her during the colder winter months. She put so much effort into it, but unfortunately, we started a bit late and didn’t finish it until a few days into Advent. I decided to hold off on writing the review until now since no one will likely buy Advent calendars after Christmas. However, despite our tardiness, this project is fantastic, and I highly recommend it. The craft set comes in a charming little suitcase-style box. This is incredibly practical because it allows you to store all your materials securely while working on the project. Additionally, once you’re done, it serves as a perfect-sized container for sewing supplies, which I’m sure will inspire a newfound interest in sewing. Inside the box, you’ll find everything needed to create a stunning Advent calendar. There are easy-to-follow instructions, scissors, a cotton panel, 24 pre-cut pockets, four colors of sticky felt, embroidery threads, a needle kit, and even templates. We couldn’t wait to dive in! The design is straightforward and requires no hemming. All you need to do is sew the little pockets onto the panel. These pockets are made of felt, which is soft and thick, making them easy for smaller hands to handle without fraying. One of the best aspects of this craft set is the level of personalization it offers. Unlike some other kits that limit creativity, this one lets you choose the color pattern for the pockets and the decorations. You can get as creative as you like with shapes and designs. Molly chose to make her Advent calendar for her dad. I think it’s such a thoughtful way to teach kids about giving and thinking of others. They not only decide what to include but also invest time and effort into creating something meaningful. It truly captures the essence of Christmas. This was Molly’s first solo sewing project. Her stitches might be a bit uneven, but they carry a certain charm that makes it uniquely hers. The numbers are attached at the end, which speeds up the finishing process. The final Advent calendar turned out beautifully, vibrant and full of character. It’s something we’ll cherish for years to come and was a wonderful surprise for Molly’s dad. She filled it with his favorite things—dark chocolate, chewing gum, and guitar picks! For £21.99, the kit offers excellent value considering the amount and quality of materials included. It’s suitable for adults, teenagers, or older children. I hope this review helps those looking for a fun and creative holiday activity. Let me know if you’ve tried similar projects or have any questions!
