Lyle’s Golden Syrup - Trick or Treacle

Kudos to Lyle’s for creating such a memorable Halloween product. As a timeless British brand with roots dating back to 1881, Lyle’s has always been synonymous with quality and tradition. Their classic green-and-gold packaging featuring the iconic lion logo is instantly recognizable, much like McDonald’s golden arches. For their Halloween offering, they’ve introduced a sinister twist by launching a black-and-red version of their treacle tin, adorned with a menacing pumpkin design.

The “Trick or Treacle” tin is perfectly suited for Lyle’s black treacle product, with its striking red-and-black color scheme being quintessentially Halloween-inspired. One standout feature of this design is the inclusion of three distinct pumpkin faces, each showcasing a different spooky expression. What truly sets this apart is the clever detail of cutting out the pumpkin’s eyes and mouth—once the treacle is finished, you can insert a candle to transform it into a jack-o’-lantern. This functional touch adds immense value, making it ideal for Halloween parties or signaling to trick-or-treaters that you’re open for business.

We’re particularly fond of how Lyle’s has made this packaging not just a product but a collectible item. With three unique designs, it encourages repeat purchases and keeps the brand fresh in consumers’ minds long after the product itself is gone. A clever marketing move indeed!

Mr Kipling - Creepy Cakes

Another British icon, Mr Kipling has always managed to bring its signature charm to seasonal offerings, and this year is no exception. Their Halloween lineup includes three delectable bite-sized treats: Shock and Orange Slices, Toffee Terror Whirls, and Fiendish Fancies. Each one is crafted with care to fit seamlessly within the spooky theme while maintaining the brand’s familiar aesthetic.

Our favorite remains the ever-popular Fiendish Fancies, which have become a staple during the Halloween season. The orange-and-black color palette perfectly complements the cakes’ orange icing paired with black piping. A delightful touch is the shift in branding from “Exceedingly Good” to “Exceedingly Creepy,” adding a touch of humor and flair to these limited-edition creations. However, while the Fiendish Fancies remain consistent with previous seasons, the introduction of Toffee Terror Whirls feels slightly uninspired in terms of packaging. It could have benefited from more distinctive design elements to emphasize its novelty.

Harcos Labs - Potions

Though based in America, Harcos Labs has gained popularity in the UK through sites like Candy Hero. While their products are available year-round, we couldn’t resist featuring their Halloween-themed items due to their imaginative packaging. Among our favorites is the “Blood Energy Potion,” a thick, fruity energy drink housed in a blood bag. To heighten authenticity, Harcos has gone the extra mile by mimicking the nutritional profile of actual blood, complete with iron content. Serve it cold or warm—it’s sure to delight guests or impress fans of vampire lore.

The packaging is nothing short of ingenious. Blood groups replace standard flavor names, and the labels are deliberately stained with faux-blood drips for added creepiness. A clever touch is the hole at the top, allowing you to hang them as edible decorations or incorporate them into costumes for extra spook factor. Other standout products include the “Zombie Potion,” a green liquid housed in a zombie-themed blood bag complete with biohazard warnings. These items make fantastic additions to zombie-themed parties and can easily blend into immersive scenarios for maximum entertainment.

And in Other News...

Vermiculite

Halloween reminded us of our customers working in hazardous goods. While zombie blood may sound fun, transporting dangerous materials requires careful planning. That’s why we’re excited to introduce vermiculite to our lineup. Made from natural minerals, this fireproof and highly absorbent material excels at packaging flammable goods like specialty chemicals. Beyond its primary use, vermiculite also serves practical purposes such as insulation and gardening applications.
