Recently, South Africa's start-up 3D printing company Fouche 3D Printing recently launched its second generation of giant 3D printer Cheetah 2. The 3D printer is large enough to hang a hammock that can sleep on its frame. Today, in order to fully demonstrate the capabilities of his machine, the company's founder Hans Fouche used it to print out the world's first plastic jack that can lift the car.
Considering the average weight of a car can reach 1.3 to 3 tons, the strength and durability of this 3D printing device can be imagined. You know, the jacks we have in mind are all metal. However, with FDM 3D printing technology , this Cheetah 2 3D printer produces ABS parts with incredible strength.
Fouche also shared the design documents for this car jack. In addition, the jack was printed in 3D with ABS plastic pellets (not our usual wire) for a total of three hours. This device consists of a main beam, a support arm and two hinge pins. The entire unit was assembled with some M6 bolts and nuts, and Fouche used a M12 threaded bar to provide support. "What's amazing is that this plastic jack held the car show for a whole day before we took it down!" Fouche said. “Although I found that there are still some issues that need to be redesigned, it is very good as the first prototype.â€
According to the pictures provided by the company, we can see that the 3D printed jack successfully lifted a four-door sedan off the ground. Of course, despite this, I am afraid that no one is willing to use it to pick up his own car. Therefore, its display significance is greater than the actual meaning. And that's what Fouche's purpose is - to showcase the amazing power of the Cheetah 2 3D printer.

In addition, the Cheetah 2 uses a 3 mm nozzle that can be printed directly using ABS, PLA or EVA pellets (which is much cheaper than many wires). And its print speed is as fast as its name Cheetah (meaning cheetah) - printing speed is 12 times faster than the average desktop FDM 3D printer! According to its technical specifications, it uses a 3 mm nozzle, which can reach an extrusion speed of 500 grams per hour and can be upgraded to 2000 grams per hour. As for the price, like Cheetah, the Cheetah 2 3D printer retails for about $10,000.
