Graham's new blow molding technology reduces bottle weight

After two years of development, Graham Packaging Corporation announced on February 2 that it has successfully developed a patented blow molding technology. This technology can reduce the weight of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) empty bottles without affecting product design and functionality.

According to Toshi Kojitani, director of product systems at Graham PET, the new blow molding technology distributes the plastic evenly across different parts of the empty bottle, thereby reducing the overall weight of the empty bottle without affecting product functionality.

The first product made by applying the relevant technology will be a reusable hot-fill bottle. Toshi Kojitan said that the bottle will be made from molds that have been used in the past, but the finished product will be lighter than existing products. The relevant technology will be gradually applied to other PET PET hot filling bottles.
