The IRT Ink Friction Tester is a new instrument developed by the IST METZ Group to test the degree of UV ink and UV varnish curing. The instrument can detect the degree of UV curing by scratch test and solvent test. The advantage is that these test procedures are carried out under controlled steady state conditions.
The stable test state of the scratch test method refers to a constant test pressure and test distance. The IRT ink friction tester accurately sets the contact pressure of the test probe by weight and maintains the same pressure; the test distance is fixed to 50 mm longitudinal movement on the surface of the substrate. IRT ink friction tester can also select different test probes and different application systems to perform scratch test under steady state conditions according to the type of printing materials.
The stable test state of the solvent test method refers to a constant amount of solvent and a preset number of test probe reciprocations. The IRT ink friction tester supplies the solvent in a predetermined amount through a magnetically controlled dosing pump and sets the number of reciprocations of the test probe over the test distance. Considering the solvent resistance of UV inks and UV varnishes, various types of solvents (such as propanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, etc.) can be used for testing.
The instrument has been awarded international printing from 2012 to 2013. The Technology Award is one of the outstanding masterpieces of the ISTMETZ Group of Companies.
