Huawei Domestic Smart Brand Launches Smart Watch Huawei Watch

On the eve of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, which kicked off on March 1, Chinese tech giant Huawei made a bold move by unveiling its first smartwatch, the Huawei Watch. The device features a circular dial and a sapphire glass screen, drawing comparisons to the classic Swiss timepieces that many Chinese entrepreneurs admire.

The **Huawei Watch** is powered by Android Wear and combines a traditional watch design with modern smart technology. It sports a 1.4-inch round AMOLED display with a resolution of 400 x 400 pixels and a pixel density of 286 PPI. Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm 1.2GHz processor, paired with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

The watch includes a heart rate sensor and a barometric pressure sensor, allowing users to track altitude, monitor sleep patterns, and log various forms of daily exercise. It also offers more than 40 customizable watch faces and comes in three color options: silver, black, and gold. Users can choose from different strap styles to match their personal taste. Huawei's design philosophy emphasizes user psychology. Unlike Apple Watch’s square face, Huawei opted for a round dial to better align with traditional watch aesthetics. As CEO Yu Chengdong explained during the event, "People love watches, so why not meet their emotional needs?"

The Huawei Watch supports instant messaging, text alerts, email notifications, calendar sync, and social media updates. It also features voice interaction via Google Now. The device is expected to launch this year, though the exact price has yet to be announced.

While the wearable market is still in its early stages, vendors like Huawei are eager to capture a share of this growing industry. Despite the excitement, no single wearable product has yet achieved global success. For Huawei, entering the smart wearables space is a strategic step toward becoming a major player in the tech world.

In addition to the Huawei Watch, the company also showcased its TalkBand B1 at the event. This wearable device resembles other smartwatches but stands out with its ability to function as a Bluetooth headset for hands-free calls. While similar devices focus mainly on health tracking and timekeeping, the TalkBand B1 adds a unique communication feature. The TalkBand B1 is compatible with both Android and iOS systems. It will be available in China next month and launched in Western Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and Japan in the second quarter. In Europe, it will retail for 99 euros (approximately $136). With increasing competition in the smartwatch market, consumer interest remains mixed. Many wonder if they truly need an extra device to complement their smartphones or tablets. However, Huawei continues to push forward, aiming to make a strong impression in the wearable tech landscape.
