On August 15–16, 2014, the 8th Master Selection Assistant Finals and Awarding Ceremony took place successfully at the Intercontinental Hotel in Sanya, Hainan. Organized jointly by American Interior Design Chinese Network, Siemens Home Appliances, and American Interior Design Chinese Edition magazine, the event was generously supported by German Ai Shi Wallpaper and Lejia Sanitary Ware.
The competition spanned nearly five months, with over 2,000 participants joining the challenge. After two rounds of online selection—preliminaries and semi-finals—45 finalists were chosen to compete in the final round. These talented individuals traveled to Sanya to meet eight renowned designers, engaging in a unique exchange between seasoned professionals and emerging talents.
During the final on August 16, each contestant went through three rigorous assessments: quick question evaluation, expansion training, and comprehensive quality assessment. Thanks to their impressive performances, 15 participants earned the opportunity to learn under the guidance of the masters, receiving both an award certificate signed by the mentors and recognition for their outstanding design work. Additionally, 11 contestants impressed the professional jury and supporting companies, earning the prestigious title of “Star of Tomorrow.â€
The event featured several notable speeches from industry leaders. Ms. Fu Zhaoxia, Director of Siemens Brand Marketing, Bosi Household Appliances (China) Co., Ltd., shared insights on innovation and design. Mr. Yan Jie, Marketing Director of Lejia (China) Co., Ltd., highlighted the importance of quality and aesthetics. Mr. Peng Peng, Marketing Director of Ai Shi Wallpapers from Germany, emphasized the role of design in modern living. Lastly, Ms. Wang Wei, publisher of American Interior Design Chinese Edition magazine, spoke about the future of interior design and the importance of nurturing young talent.
This year’s event not only celebrated creativity and excellence but also strengthened the bond between industry veterans and the next generation of designers.
