**Application of Air Filters in Production Plants**
Air quality requirements vary significantly across different factories. Factories equipped with fume hoods and pollution control systems need to replenish large volumes of air. If the ambient air is contaminated, it must be filtered before being distributed to the workplace. In industries like semiconductor manufacturing and pharmaceuticals, air cleanliness is critical. A typical work environment may contain 500,000 particles per cubic foot of air, while the latest requirement for semiconductor production demands only one particle per cubic foot. To maintain this level of purity, clean air must be continuously circulated through HEPA filters. To ensure the longevity and efficiency of HEPA filters, pre-filters are often used in combination. Industrial cleanrooms require effective removal of very small particles. While HEPA filters were once the most efficient, newer ULPA filters now offer higher efficiency, with even more advanced options expected in the future. Microglass fiber media remains a primary choice, but membranes and electrostatically enhanced materials are increasingly being used in certain applications.
For factory exhaust gases, the main concern is toxicity. Substances such as mercury, arsenic, chromium, and antimony are highly toxic, and their emission limits are strictly regulated. In response to new legislation, the U.S. and Germany have reduced air toxicity limits from 20 mg/m³ to 0.1 mg/m³. To meet these standards, factories need more advanced filtration systems capable of removing submicron particles. Some German companies use traditional folded microglass HEPA filters combined with pulsed air cleaning mechanisms to densify the filter media. Meanwhile, a U.S. company has developed a tubular microfiber HEPA filter design.
**Application of Air Filters in Hospitals**
The healthcare industry has strict air quality requirements due to its sensitive nature. Typically, hospital air is filtered using a combination of a 30% efficiency prefilter and a 90% efficiency final filter. HEPA filters are not always necessary, but they are required in special areas such as isolation rooms or specific testing and care zones. Many hospital HVAC systems use 100% outside air to prevent the spread of airborne pathogens, which is an effective strategy for infection control. However, relying entirely on outside air does not eliminate microbial growth within the filtration media, which can still affect the indoor environment. Therefore, many hospitals continue to invest in advanced HVAC systems.
Cleanrooms were first introduced in operating rooms, particularly in orthopedic surgeries that last longer and are prone to infections. Ideally, the air around the operating table should be at a cleanliness level of 100 (according to the U.S. Federal Standard 209E). It is recommended to install a top HEPA filtration system covering at least a 3m x 3m area to include the operating table and personnel. Cleanrooms are also used in birthing rooms, nurseries, burn units, and heart care departments. Recently, they have been adopted for dental procedures to reduce the risk of infection during long surgeries.
**Application of Air Filters in Office Buildings**
Improving office air quality is driven by the widespread use of modern office equipment. Devices such as computer terminals emit ozone and volatile organic compounds, while inkjet printers release hydrocarbons and ozone. Dry photocopiers produce hydrocarbons, respirable particulates, and ozone, and fax machines emit ozone and VOCs. Laser printers generate hydrocarbons, ozone, and fine particles, all of which contribute to indoor air pollution. This pollution can harm both people and equipment. It is estimated that 30% of office buildings in the U.S. suffer from indoor air quality issues, with public buildings like airports and train stations facing greater challenges. For example, O’Hare Airport in Chicago processes over 51.66 million cubic meters of air per minute and uses 1,100 pre-filters, 1,100 final filters, and 2,200 carbon filters, requiring monthly replacements. The global demand for air filters in office, commercial, and public buildings is projected to reach $500 million by 2000.
**Mobile Clean Sampling Vehicles**
The mobile clean sampling vehicle is a portable device designed to provide a controlled, purified environment for raw material sampling. It offers cost-effective, flexible, and easy-to-maintain solutions, making it popular among GMP-certified facilities.
**Working Principle**
The vehicle uses a centrifugal fan system to draw in air through medium-efficiency and high-efficiency filters. The laminar flow hood ensures even distribution of clean air to the workspace, maintaining the required level of purification without interruption.
**Structural Features**
The frame is made of dust-proof, high-precision plate material, and the working area is constructed with stainless steel veneer. This design provides excellent sealing, a sleek appearance, and durability.
